Questions, answered

The things people ask before they get started. If yours isn't here, send it over and I'll answer it straight.

Getting started

How do I get started?

Fill in the form on the contact page and tell me which service you're after — online coaching, 1-2-1 personal training, or group and buddy sessions. I'll come back to you to talk through where you're at now and what you actually want out of it.

Do I need to be fit already?

No. Everyone starts somewhere, and I've been at the bottom of it myself — I wasn't always this size, and getting here took years of graft.

What I need from you is that you turn up and stick to the plan. That's it. This works for anyone ready to get stuck in, whatever shape they're in on day one.

I've got an injury or a health condition. Can I still train?

Tell me about it when you get in touch and we'll build the plan around what you can do rather than what you can't. I've trained through injuries and setbacks myself, so it's familiar ground.

One thing to be straight about: coaching isn't medical advice, and I'm not diagnosing or treating anything. If you've got a condition, or you're coming back from something serious, speak to your GP or physio first — then we'll work with whatever they tell you.

Where and when

Where are you based?

Gym One, Unit 2 Block 2, Vale of Leven Industrial Estate, Dumbarton, G82 3PD.

Which areas do you cover?

In person I'm at Gym One in Dumbarton, and I work with people from across the Vale of Leven, Alexandria, Balloch and Clydebank.

Online coaching isn't limited by geography at all — that works wherever you are.

What times do you train clients?

Sessions are booked around what suits you and what I've got free. Tell me the days and times you're aiming for when you enquire and I'll be straight with you about what's available.

The coaching

What's the difference between online coaching and 1-2-1?

Online coaching is fully remote. I build your training and nutrition plan, we check in every week, and you stay accountable through the app. There's no fixed gym time — you train where and when it suits you.

1-2-1 personal training is face to face at Gym One, with me in the room for the session.

What's included in online coaching?

A training plan and a nutrition plan built around you, a check-in every week, and access to the ADPT app to log your sessions and your food between check-ins.

Plans get adjusted as your progress and your feedback come in. Nothing is set once and forgotten about.

Can I train with a friend?

Yes. Group and buddy sessions are one of the three things you can enquire about — bring a partner or a small group and we'll train together.

How much does it cost?

It depends on which service you're after and how often you're training, so I'd rather give you a real number than a vague one. Get in touch through the contact form, tell me what you're planning, and I'll come back with exactly what it costs.

How quickly will I see results?

That depends on where you're starting and how consistently you stick to the plan. Anyone promising you a number without knowing you is guessing.

What I will tell you is that the results are built to last, and they come from doing the boring things properly for long enough to matter.

The app

What is the ADPT app for?

It's where your coaching lives between sessions. Your training plan and session logging, a food tracker with your macro targets, your weekly check-in, and tracking for weight and general wellbeing.

Everything I need to see how the week actually went, in one place.

What happens at a weekly check-in?

You check in on your chosen day, between 6am and 9am. It's your chance to give me detailed feedback on your training and your meals, flag anything that isn't working, and ask questions.

That's what I use to adjust the plan for the week ahead.

Do I have to log everything I eat?

Logging is what makes the plan adjustable. If I can't see what you actually ate, I'm guessing when I change it.

The app is built to make it quick — search for a food, save the meals you eat all the time, and your targets sit on screen as you go.

About Adam

Who will I be working with?

Me — Adam Davies. Army veteran, girl dad, and the coach you'll deal with directly from your first message through every check-in after it.

I've been where a lot of my clients start, and I got out of it the same way I'll get you out of it: education, a plan, and militant discipline.
